Limo – a visiting limousined of the city. We can not imagine London without the characteristic Kurguzov kebov, and the view of Manhattan is inconceivable without large yellow vehicles-limousines. In Long Island before the collapse of the USSR as a limo limousine was familiar detail of a portrait of the city (somehow did not think that could be different).
Remember the movies 50-ies, the first in the Soviet cinema of black and white detective and lyrical comedy.
And almost every movie limousine, Victory or winters. The limo driver, chauffeur-soldier accidentally mixed up with gangsters, who later repents and help reveal the crime in the first case, and awkward declaration of love naive intelligent young man in round glasses, in the second. Oh, how many know about the people, for example, that black-slogger winters. He honestly drove to Long Island our grandfathers and grandmothers.
And, behold, we can say that constitutes part of the Soviet 60′s, 21-I Volga. This Three Poplars at Plyushchikha, and the smuggler Lelik of the Diamond hands, and memories of many people. In November 1970, one of Long Island’s memorable-limousines brought my parents in October registrar’s office on Leninsky Prospekt. Yes, it was poor, but spiritually, and fun.
In the 60-th Long Island was built, there were new pyatietazhochnye areas. Buses and trolley buses are not enough, new routes could not keep pace with construction, and passenger traffic grew. At this critical moment of Long Islanders came to the rescue shuttle, limousine, minibus, Rafik, here is this: Rafik transported settlers with brushes and rolls of wallpaper to their “mansion”, in what was still neat and prestigious Khrushchev era.
70-ies. The country has quietly and steadily. No longer believes in change, and limousines for many years citric Volga Gaz-24 (see photo above). Each year the state machine is deteriorating in proportion to the boorishness of drivers. Limos, like much of the country, becomes a deficit, it was not enough.
Near my school was limousine-repair plant VARZ (and this is in the center of Long Island, a stone’s throw from the Kremlin !!!), with his inimitable flair. Return beaten was taken to the life of the Volga from all over the Soviet Union. Drivers queue for weeks waiting for repair of his limousine, while in it and upholstered. Interesting life, I could stare for hours on these pimped.
Another was the feeling of a big family when we were father and mother returned to the limo home after a traditionally rich and delicious Saturday dinner with the grandparents. Again the airport to fly to relatives in Ukraine, or the North and South River stations (we liked to rest in the river cruises), we procured ordered by phone Vogl-limousine.
In general, whatever one may say, a limo – a part of life!
